Nick Lachey’s New Album Drops in November
Former 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey is not busy enough these days, so he’s taking on a new project and releasing his fourth solo album. The singer is married to Vanessa Minillo, he’s father to their two-year-old son, Camden, he’s expecting his first daughter later this year with his wife, and he’s in the middle of filming a reality show with his brother and former band mate, Drew, about the process of opening their own bar. Oh, and he’s also the host of VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live. So it only seems natural with so much free time he’d write and record an album.
Soundtrack of My Life is scheduled to drop on November 11, and it’s going to have 10 songs from popular movie soundtracks.
“I knew I wanted to do a cover album, but wanted to go for a different concept. Soundtracks just felt like a cool angle on doing a cover record. The marriage of music and film is one that has been talked about so much over the years, and the way music affects you when you’re watching a film is so impactful,” he says of his desire to make this particular album. He’s even chosen songs that are meaningful to him in real life.
“’Falling Slowly’, from the movie Once, is a very special song for Vanessa and me. It sort of became our theme song to the point where we had it performed at our wedding shower. And ‘What a Wonderful World’ is an all-time classic for me and in one of my favorite movies as a kid that I remember watching with my dad, Good Morning Vietnam with Robin Williams. They all have a story behind them and have a special meaning for me,” he says of the significance of each of the songs on the album.
