According to Polly Samson, wife of Pink Floyd guitarist and singer David Gilmour, fans can look forward to a new album later this year. Pink Floyd fans were upset to say the least when the band announced that their 1994 album, “The Division Bell,” would be their last, and they’ve kept true to their word for two decades. However, the 20-year-mark is upon Pink Floyd and the band plans not only to reissue their final album in a deluxe edition; they plan on releasing a new album.

“Pink Floyd album out in October is called The Endless River. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright’s swansong and very beautiful,” Samson posted to her Twitter page over the weekend. Wright was the keyboard player in the band. He passed away from cancer in 2008.

There are plenty of other stories swirling surrounding the release of the new album. Touring Floyd’s singer, Durga McBroom-Hudson posted to her own twitter page that Gilmour has asked her to expand some tracks and add some lyrics to some instrumentals the band was recording at the same time they were recording their Division Bell album. She goes on to tell fans that the album will have some tracks on it by Rick Wright being that they were recorded in 1994.

As far as the inclusion of Roger Waters, who is ex-bassist in the band, it is currently unknown whether or not he will make any appearances on the album. The relationship between Gilmour and Waters has not always been a good one, despite the fact that they duo have occasionally reunited for performances. However, speculation has it that Gilmour will not be bringing Waters into the studio to perform on the new album. A specific date in October has not yet been released, but fans can look forward to the approaching date with enthusiasm as it grows nearer.
