Robert Downey Jr. Shares Baby Girl’s Name with the World
We told you this morning that Robert Downey Jr. and his lovely wife just welcomed their first daughter, and now we know her name. The new father to his day old daughter decided to confirm the news of his baby’s birth on his Facebook page, and he spilled some personal details about the newest addition to his family.
“After 9 months of intensive development, Team Downey is pleased to announce our 2014 fall/winter project. Principal photography commenced 11-14 and will continue until she says, ‘Dad! You are embarrassing me…I’m 30, this has to stop,’ Yep…Avri Roel Downey joined the party @ 3:22 am on November 4th….she’s 7lbs. even, spans 20 inches, and is accompanied by a variety of Susan’s traits that have seemingly overwritten my ‘junk DNA.’ I’ll post pics here + there when I’m not too busy staring…” the new dad said on his Facebook page this morning.
The couple has been married 9 years, and they have a 2-year-old son together already. Downey Jr. also has a 21-year-old son from a previous relationship. Ever since the couple announced that they were expecting their second child over the summer, Downey Jr. has been very outspoken about his excitement, and he is even more excited to finally have a daughter of his own. He said over the summer he’s never had one before, but that he’s been doing some asking and some research and he figures he’ll just “show up and do what I’m told,” which is probably for the best.
Congratulations to the new parents, who are over the moon with excitement after the arrival of their new baby girl. And congratulations on giving her a name that the world can pronounce and understand rather than the traditional Hollywood baby name that makes the world rumble with a collective head shake.
