Rock star Benji Madden rose to fame in 2000 when his band Good Charlotte released its self-titled debut album. Good Charlotte received mostly positive reviews, and helped the band build a strong fan base for their sophomore album, The Young and the Hopeless, which was released two years later. Over the years, Good Charlotte earned a reputation for creating alternative/punk rock hits that supplied fans with an array of anthems. Unfortunately for listeners, the band announced that they would be taking a break in 2011, and the Madden brothers began to work on projects outside of the band. Although Good Charlotte has not released an album since 2010, Benji Madden has managed to stay relevant while pursuing other interests. Here are three things you didn’t know about Benji Madden.
3. Benji Madden is married to Cameron Diaz.
On January 5, 2015, Benji Madden and actress Cameron Diaz tied the knot. The couple, who began dating in May 2014 after being introduced by Nicole Richie, held the ceremony of Diaz’ Beverly Hills mansion. In a joint statement following the wedding, the couple stated: “We couldn’t be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends.” Nicole Richie, who is married to Benji’s brother, Joel, was in attendance at the wedding, and her son was the ring bearer.
2. Benji Madden has an identical twin brother.
Benji Madden has an identical twin brother, Joel Madden, who he has worked very close with throughout the years. The pair is responsible for forming the band, Good Charlotte, and have since formed a successful rock duo simply called, The Madden Brothers.
1. Benji Madden has a doll collection.
In 2007, during an episode of MTV Cribs, Benji Madden showed the world his extensive collection of Living Dead themed dolls. Madden told cameras that he has collected many dolls throughout the years and often enjoys changing their outfits and playing with them.
