10 Celebrities Who Have Gotten Busted for Shoplifting

It’s hard for many of us ‘normal’ people to understand what drives celebrities to do stupid things (and I say stupid meaning exactly that; stupid). What makes a millionaire with an exceptionally recognizable face and the bank account of our dreams get behind the wheel of a car and drive after a night of partying and drinking too much when a driver would be well within the budget? What makes celebrities with millions it the bank shoplift? What makes them blow through their money like it’s unending and end up living with nothing and having to file for bankruptcy as well as deal with foreclosure and repossession and financial crises of that nature?

Real Housewife of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards, former child star, was recently arrested after attempting to steal more than $600 worth of items from her local Target, and people cannot figure out why. It turns out that she’s made a mess of her finances and she is in serious trouble. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for this former child star. Farrah Fawcett

She was a famous actress when she felt the need to steal clothing not once, but twice. This happened at two Hollywood boutiques she liked to frequent. She defended her actions, however, stating that her theft was justified considering the fact that she had taken the items only after the stores decided she could not return her previous purchases, so she took matters into her own hands.

Kim Richards

Rumor has it that the former child star who so famously battles addiction was caught shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of items from a California Target store recently. Why? Because she hasn’t the money to pay for her purchases, so she thought she’d just walk out of the store with them without paying. Apparently, earning millions isn’t enough to keep you set for the rest of your life if you are not managing that money correctly.

Megan Fox

She’s one of the most beautiful women in the world, and she is not allowed to go into Walmart stores. Why? Because she had a bad habit as a teen of shoplifting things, even though she was already working and making money. She was caught stealing a $7 package of lip gloss from the chain, and that is the reason she has been banned from ever going into the store again. I can’t say she’s missing much, to be quite honest.

Tila Tequila

Everyone knows her from her time in reality television, her websites and her personality. That’s not to say you agree with her lifestyle, but you certainly know who she is. Despite the fact that she’s been pretty successful, she felt the need to skip the actually purchasing part when she was at a local CVS a few years back, and she got caught. She was caught stealing snacks. Yes, junk food items that she could have paid for with no issue, she instead decided to walk off with without paying. And then she posted about it online laughing like it was a joke.

Lindsay Lohan

Lohan has had her share of problems, mostly bad ones. She’s been in a lot of trouble with the law, and that includes the time she stole a necklace from a Southern California store that was worth around $2500. She was accused and denied that it happened, but we all know that she has spent all her money on things that aren’t too good for her, so few people believed that she did not steal these things.

Courtney Love

Apparently being rich and famous is not enough when you want a KISS shirt. If you have the money in the bank, leave it there and steal the shirt. It makes sense, right? Well, not really. Considering a KISS tee shirt probably went for $20 max and she’s worth millions, it seems a little bit silly of her to make her entrance in the life of crime this way. But it worked for her and her very questionable reputation as it is.

Winona Ryder

She is probably the most famously talked about celebrity thief in the world after she went on a big time shoplifting spree. She went into the Beverly Hills Sakes Fifth Avenue and made an effort to help herself to more than $5000 worth of designer clothing that she did not pay for. She was caught in the act and arrested, and she claimed that she was not in her right mind when it happened. She said that getting caught saved her life and gave her the ability to right her wrongs and change her life.

Amanda Bynes

Like a few of the other celebs on this list, she was accused of making some questionable decisions in her life over the past few years. One of those decisions was the one she made after taking a $200 hat from Barney’s in New York City and getting caught. It’s not all that surprising, however, since she’s clearly suffering from some serious issues.

Bai Ling

The Chinese actress has had some seriously awesome roles in some really popular American television shows, but that doesn’t mean she thinks she’s not capable of committing a crime. She was arrested after taking two gossip magazines and some batteries from a gift shop in the Los Angeles International Airport, as if she couldn’t afford to pay then $15 for her purchase. It seems a little ridiculous to us.

Britney Spears

Back in 2007 when she went, well, a little bit crazy, the pop sensation was caught shoplifting on two occasions. Once she stole a wig from a mannequin in an adult store after the manager refused to let her try on panties. She then went into a gas station and stole a lighter, stopping to tell the video surveillance camera that she stole the lighter and commenting that she is so bad. Bad, no; just a little bit crazy for a few moments.
