10 Former Best Friend Celebrities Turned Enemies

Friendships are hard to maintain, even for people who don’t have to deal with the distractions of flashing lights and public attention.  However, for celebrities, whose every move is often watched and recorded – maintaining relationships of any kind can be a serious struggle.  As a result, it’s not uncommon to hear about friendships between two stars coming to an awkward and abrupt end.  Of course, sometimes these failed friendships are simply due to two people growing apart, while in other instances, it’s the result of some serious beef.  Although some have been able to mend things and move on, others continue to be at odds.  Here are 10 former best friend celebrities turned enemies.

Ariana Grande and Jeanette McCurdy

Former Nickelodeon stars, Ariana Grande and Jeanette McCurdy used to be good friends off camera.  However, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Although there hasn’t been any serious mudslinging from either one of the girls, it’s clear that they’re no longer close.  During an interview, McCurdy stated: ” I  just feel that, you know Ariana and I were and are extremely close and very like-minded in a lot of different ways and then, sorta as the show dissolved, everybody wanted to find some sort of hidden meaning in our relationship.”

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry were one BFF pop princesses, but now there seems to be some serious negativity in the air between these two. Although it’s unclear what caused their friendship to dissolve, many believe there was some low-key hating going on behind the scenes. Since the end of the friendship both sides have been throwing some subliminal shade at each other.

Heather Locklear and Denise Richards

It’s not every day that you find a pair of good friends in Hollywood, and Heather Locklear and Denise Richards were just that.  However, everybody knows that messing with someone’s man is a sure-fire way to cause trouble and Denise Richards learned that the hard way when she began dating Locklear’s ex-husband, Richie Sambora.  Although Locklear and Richards have now found a way to be cordial towards one another, the days of their friendship are long gone.

Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck

Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck may seem like a bit of unlikely pair, but the stars were once very good friends.  However, when Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005, things began to change.  Smith says that Affleck’s marriage to Garner is the reason behind their fallen friendship.  According to Smith: “He’s got a wife [Jennifer Garner] that don’t [sic] care for me at all [Laughs]. And plus, honestly, he probably don’t care for me at all anymore [either].

Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian

Yes, there once was a day when Paris Hilton was more famous than Kim Kardashian.  In fact, at one point in time, Kim K was only known for being Paris Hilton’s friend.  However, those days are long gone – and it seems the days of their friendship are gone too.  In 2008, Paris insulted Kim’s now famous hind parts, and the two had a falling-out.  Although they are no longer feuding, their friendship is still pretty much non-existent.

Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato

Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato used to be great gal pals, but things have certainly changed over the years.  After making her transition from Hannah Montana to a bonafide twerker, many of Cyrus’ old friends found themselves confused by the new her.  Although neither Lovato or Cyrus have specified what exactly caused the rift in their friendship, Lovato has stated: “It’s life, and people change.I don’t have anything in common with her anymore. I wish her the best.”

Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow

For years, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow reigned as one of the coolest pair of celebrity best buds, but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. In 2010, a source close to the pair revealed that their friendship was in the midst of dissolving and stated: “They don’t speak. I can’t tell you exactly why they had the falling out, but Gwyneth can be jealous and competitive.”  Since then, both women have made subliminal remarks about the other, and although it’s been several years, things don’t seem to be cooling down.

50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather

50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather were once great friends.  After bonding over being incredibly rich, the two really seemed to have a genuine relationship.  However, things changed when 50 felt like Floyd was playing with his money.  Since the end of their friendship, 50 has openly dissed Mayweather and even insulted his intelligence – claiming that Pretty Boy Floyd doesn’t know how to read. Although the two seem to be trying to reconcile, it’s only a matter of time before things blow up again.

Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad

Once reality TV’s favorite best friends, Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad, ruled the screen when they appeared together on MTV’s Laguna Beach and The Hills. However, a wedge began to form between the two when they both had issues with each other’s boyfriends.  Although it’s been years, and the two are no longer openly beefing, there’s a good chance that they will never be friends again – and they both seem perfectly fine with that.

Like their characters on the hit show, Gossip Girl, Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were once the best of friends.  However, a few years ago, reports began to surface that the two were no longer on speaking terms.  According to a source: “After something of a thaw in their relationship during the final two seasons ofGossip Girl, Leighton and Blake don’t speak anymore.”
