The POTUS was not known by many in 2006. The first person who was in his corner back then was Ms. Winfrey. Oprah endorsed Obama before he even declared his candidacy. Once he did, Oprah was on the campaign trails with him showing her support. It is believed that 1 million of Obama’s votes during the 2008 primaries were because of Oprah’s endorsement and that he may not have won the candidacy without her help. Both Barack and his wife Michelle have made several appearance on Oprah’s show.
