Celebrities React to Ellen Page Coming out on Valentine’s Day

Piaget Presents The Premiere Of Fox Searchlight Pictures' "The East" - Arrivals

This Valentine’s Day was a special day for many couples around the world. It was also a special day for Ellen Page. The ‘Juno’ actress came out at a perfectly eloquent speech during a Human Rights Campaign in Las Vegas on February 14th. Shortly thereafter, numerous celebrities took to social media to announce their love and support for the 26-year old actress.

Among those celebrities who tweeted their support were Kristen Bell, Emile Hirsch, Lance Bass, Patrick Wilson, Kate Mara, Anna Kendrick, and more. Bell tweeted:

“Riveted by @EllenPage’s fabulous speech. So honest & funny & articulate. She SHINES. Happy Valentine’s Day to All.”

Page declared that her decision to be open was made in hope that doing so would make a difference to those who are tired of “lying by omission”. Interestingly enough, Page’s speech caused a social media frenzy. A surprise in this day and age when so many celebrities have been open about their sexuality.

Page has not made any statements since her speech on Valentine’s Day, but you can be sure the impact of her courage to stand up for who she is will resonate through Hollywood for quite some time.
