Chris Martin Says He’s to Blame for Split with Gwyneth Paltrow
The news of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s separation was as big of a shock as celebrity breakups can possibly shock you. In a land where divorce rates are much higher than the norm, the Martin and Paltrow split was still unexpected. Interestingly enough, the aftermath of the breakup saw Paltrow taking the blame for the split. Not so fast according to Martin….
According to a recent interview the Coldplay frontman broke his silence on the ‘conscious uncoupling’ and says he’s the one to blame: “This was more a realization about trying to grow up basically. Like I said, if you can’t open yourself up, you can’t appreciate the wonder inside. So you can be with someone very wonderful, but because of your own issues you cannot let that be celebrated in the right way.”
Martin would go on to discuss how he was crippled by the fear of failure and rejection. He said he even struggled with it with his band Coldplay, who have been tremendously successful. He ultimately ended the interview saying he has no one to blame, but himself and that he needs to work on some things. Clearly, this separation isn’t like most in Hollywood. Both have handled it with respect and maturity.
