Dr. Dre Net Worth
Dr. Dre is an American rapper with an estimated net worth of $700 million. Born on February 18, 1965 in Compton, California, his birth name is actually Andre Romelle Young. His mother and father are Theodore and Verna Young, and he is their first child. His parents were married the year before he was born and separated when Dr. Dre was only three. It took another four years before their divorce was actually final, but Dr. Dre lived with his mother. His mother remarried a man by the name of Curtis Crayon, and they had two sons and a daughter. Both sons are deceased. Even later, she would remarry for a third time to a many by the name of Warren Griffin, and that marriage provided Dr. Drew with three stepsisters and a stepbrother.
A little known fact is that his step brother, Warren Griffin III is actually singer Warren G. Musical talent runs in the family, obviously. When he was in high school, Dr. Dre had to transfer from Vanguard Junior to Centennial High in Compton, and then to Fremont High. The first transfer was to get away from drug and gang violence, and the second was to handle his poor grades in school. He was not focused on school, and he actually partied so hard he became a father on December 15, 1981 when he was only 17-years-old. The baby’s mother raised him and he did not meet his son until his son was 20.
Before he became a rapper, he was a DJ. It was not until 1992 when he released his first studio album that he became really famous as Dr. Dre. Then he did not bother with another album for seven years until 1999, but his work in the music business in between was enough to sustain him. He collaborated with other stars, he made money and he was doing his thing. As a business owner and producer, he released albums in those seven years, but not solely his own. He is a perfectionist, and he does not always work well with other artists who are not. It is reported that he and Eminem worked very well together because they are both perfectionists.
What really made him wealthy and famous, however, was the fact that he invented Beatz by Dre. He sold the company to Apple in 2014 for a reported $3 billion. He also sold his share of Aftermath records in 2001 which earned him more than $52 million. While his music, when he makes it, does make money, it’s his business ventures that really did make him the wealthy man he is today. It can also be attributed to his productions, too, as he has produced some of the most famous songs of all time in the R&B and Hip Hop community. He is not worth billions because of other ventures and debts, but his more than half a billion dollar net worth is impressive and it will only grow as he continues to produce music and take advantage of his business ventures.
