The Best Jason Aldean Love Songs
Singer/songwriter, Jason Aldean, is currently one of country music’s biggest names. After being discovered at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon, Aldean signed a contract with Broken Bow Records. His self titled debut album was released in the summer of 2005 and was eventually certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Now on his sixth release, Aldean has a catalog full of ballads and heartfelt hits. His most recent release, Old Boots, New Dirt, debuted at number one and has sold more than 500,000 copies to date. In an interview with Radio.com, Aldean expressed that he wants fans to either love or hate his music, according to Aldean, “I don’t want there to be any in-between…I think one of the worst things somebody can say is, ‘Yeah, it’s OK.’ That means it has done absolutely nothing for you. I want it to hit a nerve one way or another. If you hate it, you’ll be talking about it, and that’s all I want.” Fortunately for Aldean, there are way more people who love his music than hate it, and he has certainly succeeded in providing a voice to those who may have otherwise gone unheard.
While connecting with listeners is important to Aldean for obvious reasons, he has said “I hope that people would listen to my album or my songs but I try to record songs that I can relate to or that I have lived. There are a lot of people out there that really aren’t that different than me, I consider myself a pretty average guy, so hopefully they understand me and know where I am coming from.” Aldean’s songs are among some of country’s most popular and his knack for spilling raw emotion has given fans a reason to feel a connection to the superstar. While experiences in love and relationships often vary from person to person, anyone who has ever been in love knows that is can be one of the best and worst feelings in the world, and Jason Aldean’s music conveys that perfectly. Here are the five best Jason Aldean love songs.
5. “Why?”
Off of his debut album, Jason Aldean, “Why?” is a deeply self-reflective song which asks the age-old and unanswerable question: why? As Aldean belts out the hook: “Why does it always have to come down/To you leaving/Before I’ll say ‘I love you’/Why do I always use the words/That cut the deepest/When I know how much it hurts you/Oh baby why, do I do that to you,” it is clear that Aldean is desperately seeking answers for his behavior in a relationship nearing its end.
4. “The Truth”
According to Aldean, “This is one of those songs that I heard the first time and knew I wanted to cut…It’s about a relationship going bad and the guy just losing it over this girl. He’s basically begging…saying ‘make up whatever story you want, tell ’em I left town or whatever you need to say…just don’t tell ’em the truth.’ I don’t know a guy who hasn’t been through that before.” Although there is nothing more freeing than the truth, sometimes the right lie can provide just the right amount of temporary comfort. The song peaked at number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)
3. “The Best of Me”
Released on his third album, Wide Open, and written by fellow country star, Brantley Gilbert, “The Best of Me” is a all about a relationship that has ended and nearly destroyed Aldean in the process. The song’s chorus: “Cause there ain’t nothing like a memory/When it’s coming on strong like a hurricane/How can love like that just up and walk away/It’s killing me baby/It’s got me pouring up another drink/Bourbons hittin me hard like a freight train/With my back against a wall or on my knees/When the worst of your memory gets the best of me,” makes it clear that Aldean is having a very difficult time coping with his lost love.
2. “You’re The Love I Wanna Be In”
As the song opens, Aldean sings, “I have always been there every time he let you down/I caught your falling tears before they hit the ground/But I just heard somebody say that you finally told him goodbye/Well, girl now you have finally made your move, now I am here to make mine” it is clear that a new love is on the verge of beginning. Although pursuing someone in a relationship is generally not the best idea, Aldean appears to believe that the risk is worth the reward.
1. “Burnin’ it Down”
Released on his most recent album, “Burnin’ it Down,” is the perfect blend of country, pop, and R&B. The song has proven to be a great commercial success and was certified platinum just nine weeks after its release. Country Weekly described the song’s lyrics as “sexy” and said that they “the boundaries of what might be construed as traditional themes in country music.” The chorus, “We’re just hanging around/Burnin’ it down/Sippin’ on some cold Jack Daniel’s/Jammin’ to some old Alabama with you baby/Laying right here dreamin’ in my bed/I’m just doing my thing/You love it when I sing/Say it makes you feel like an angel/We about to get a little tangled up right about now/So girl let’s keep burnin’ it down,” is catchy and provides the perfect build up to the song’s bridge in which Aldean sweetly sings, “I wanna crawl through the dark/just to feel your heart beat against me.”
