Five Things You Didn’t Know About The Daily Show
The Daily Show has forged its own path on TV, and it is a path quite unlike any other show that came before it. It told us the news, but in a way we have never heard before. It laughed at the world and itself, whilst still managing to inform them and reach a target demographic that was never a huge fan of political news (i.e. the twenty somethings). Though much of this may have to do with the charisma and intellect of host Jon Stewart, there are actually many factors into the show’s success. For fun, we thought we would examine five examples of things you may not have know about The Daily Show.

Many Presidents Have Been On It
It may seem like news we all know, but Presidents (both current and former) have stopped by the Daily Show studio to sit and have a chat with Jon Stewart. It was things like this that helped dispel the beliefs that this show was purely satire. Beneath that satire is some of the most intelligent political talk on television, straight up. And given in a language all people speak: humor.

They Give An Awesome Gift Bag to Guests
If you are ever a guest on the Daily Show, you will be walking away with some cool swag. Well, there is a Monopoly game in there (how topical), as well as many bottles of various liquor. There is also a gift certificate to get your pet photographed professionally. That is just how insane and awesome the people behind-the-scenes on this show are.

It Has Launched Numerous Careers
Think about all the people who started out on Daily Show and ended up being huge. You have Steve Carrel, Steven Colbert, John Oliver, and I could keep on going. Those people are household names now, and they all started out as writers, cast, and staff on the Daily Show. Kinda makes me want to intern there, to be honest.

John Stewart Used To Host Everything on MTV
Many of the people in the younger generation right now may think of Jon Stewart only in terms of the Daily Show, but if you grew up in the nineties you know that Jon Stewart actually was once the go-to guy on MTV for hosting gigs. At one point he even had the short lived Jon Stewart Show on the network, Please note I said “short lived”, as it did not do very well. But I do believe it set the tone for his hosting gig on The Daily Show. So thank goodness for that.

They Are Rolling in Emmy’s
Seriously. They are swimming in Emmy’s over there at the Daily Show. That may sound like an exaggeration, but check it out for yourself. See, swimming in them. I think the key thing to note here is that every one of those Emmy’s is well deserved.
