Katy Perry to Headline Super Bowl Half Time Performance
February 1 is going to be a big day for people across the country. Not only is it Super Bowl Sunday, it’s also the day that Katy Perry fans will get to see her headline the halftime show at the biggest game of the year. It’s been weeks since rumors started that the NFL had tapped her to be the star of their halftime routine, and it seems that the star has finally accepted their invitation and everything is final. Whomever takes the field – and we just don’t know yet who that will be – is going to do so at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona in February, bringing the big game back to warmer climates.
This is the fifth year in a row that the Super Bowl has featured younger performers, which is not something we’ve seen much of since the infamous Justin Timberlake/Janet Jackson incident in 2004 when he ‘accidentally’ ripped off her shirt to reveal her nude top. Since then, the Super Bowl has featured some older performers (I believe they are called oldies but goodies) that are a lot less controversial and a lot less likely to strop down. Aside from the fact that Nicki Minaj performed in 2012, it’s been pretty much tame stars for a long time. In 2011, the Black Eyed Peas performed, Minaj and Madonna took the stage in 2012 and Beyonce rocked things in 2013. It was a great show with Bruno Mars in 2014, but it looks like this year might be a little more daring.
After all, it’s not like Katy Perry is known for her modest style and her desire to cover up when she’s performing. In fact, we can’t wait to see how she has to tone things down to perform at the Super Bowl next year.
