Ian McShane is a British actor with an estimated net worth of $10 million. Born on September 29, 1942, he is the son of Harry McShane and Irene McShane. His father was a famous football star from Scotland, and his mother stayed home to care for him. His father was Scottish and his mother was mostly English and also a touch Irish. He grew up in Lancashire and he went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He was interested in acting from the time he was a small child, and it’s evident in his work that what he does is what he loves. Ian McShane leaves a very prominent mark on all that he does in the acting business, and it’s because of his long career as an actor.
He became famous first in the United Kingdom before he made his way to the United States to begin his acting career. He starred in several different BBC television shows and soap operas. This got his name out there and only made him want to move to the states even more to pursue an even bigger and more prominent acting career elsewhere. His first big role in the US was back when he was a star on hit show Deadwood. Ian McShane was nominated for an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role as Al Swearengen. His did not win the SAG or the Emmy, but he did take home the Gold Globe in 2005. Of course, most children and parents will recognize him as the man who portrayed the voice of Captain Hook in the hit series “Shrek the Third.”
Ian McShane might have landed some major roles in both the movies and on television, but he is not above guest starring roles when he feels they are just right for him. He has been on a number of highly famous television shows playing characters that are anything but forgettable in their amazingness. Right now he is the newest cast member in the hit series that everyone loves to love and loves even more to discuss, Game of Thrones. He comes into the series in the sixth season, and everyone has anticipated his arrival on the series since it was announced.
As far as Ian McShane’s personal life is concerned, he has been around the block a time two but that does not stop him from looking for love. He was married once to Suzanne Farmer. That was in the 1960s when he was still young and not quite as famous then as he is now. He married model Ruth Post later, and they had two children together. That marriage came to a devastating end when he was caught in the midst of an affair with actress Sylvia Kristel. From there, he married actress Gwen Humble. That was in 1980 and they have been married ever since. They live in Venice Beach, California and have no kids together. He’s been acting most of his life, and his net worth will only increase with the big name shows he is beginning in 2016.
