Kanye West Net Worth

Kanye West is an American rapper and designer with a net worth of approximately $145 million. His exact net worth is unknown as he announced in early 2016 that he is in debt more than $53 million. He asked Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to loan him $53 million to get out of debt, and he has also started an online campaign to raise money to help him get out of debt. At the moment, there is no confirmation whether or not he is really in debt or if his most recent net worth estimate is correct or if he has lost it all – and then some.

Born on June 8, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia, he is the son of Ray West, a former Black Panther, and Dr. Donda C. West. His mother was once an English Professor at Clark Atlanta University and she is also the Chair of the English Department at Chicago State. She retired to become his manager. His parents divorced when he was only 3 and his father went on to become a Christian Counselor and the owner of a Good Water Store in Maryland. He grew up in a middle class neighborhood in Chicago and had many advantages as a youth. He spent some time living in China when he was 10 so that his mother could teach as part of an exchange program with her school. He learned to speak Chinese there, but claims he has forgotten how to speak it over the years.

When he was only 5, he began writing poetry. Kanye West has always had an appreciation for the arts, and he has made it his point in life to understand as much as he can about writing, music and lyrics. He also loves to paint, but realized during college that he wanted to be a musician more than a student, so he dropped out of college. He began making beats for local artists and was given his big break in production when he was very young working on many big name albums and labels before he decided to break out on his own and become a musician. His first album was released by Jay Z and his label in 2004.

He’s released 9 studio albums in the past 12 years, each one featuring work he is very proud of. He has also become the subject of rampant media attention thanks to the fact that he likes to call out people online and because he married Kim Kardashian and fathered two children with the reality star. He also made himself an enemy of many when he took to the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 to interrupt Taylor Swift as she accepted her award so that he could tell the world that he believed Beyonce should have won.

He was removed from the show and Beyonce allowed Swift to come up onto the stage when she won for Best Video of the Year to allow her to finish the acceptance speech she was not able to finish. He apologized to Taylor Swift and the two became friends, but he added a track about her to one of his 2016 albums that claimed he had relations with her and made her famous. He’s been dissed by the president, by many in the media and has recently been called unhinged and out of control.
