The Most Memorable Taylor Swift Quotes of 2014

2011 Billboard Music Awards - Arrivals, Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has been very busy this year.  The pop icon has completed a tour, taken on a supporting film role, and will be releasing her fifth studio album next month.  However, even with a full plate, Swift has remained a very vocal and outspoken presence speaking up on issues such as bullying, illiteracy, and the current state of the music industry.  Swift also thinks that it is important for young girls to respect themselves and feel confident in who they are.  Though Swift is only 24 years old, she seems to be wise well beyond her years and has often used her own life experiences to give advice to others. Here is a list of Taylor Swift’s most memorable quotes of 2014.

5. “I can have issues with it. But at the end of the day, I can’t be ungrateful, because I chose this. But sometimes — sometimes — you don’t want to have a camera pointed at you.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone Magazine Swift speaks on living life in the spotlight.  She acknowledges that while she chose a career path that would thrust her into the spotlight, it can also get very tiring.

4. “I’d like to point out that people are still buying albums, but now they’re buying just a few of them. They are buying only the ones that hit them like an arrow through the heart or have made them feel strong or allowed them to feel like they really aren’t alone in feeling so alone”

The Wall Street Journal recently asked Swift to write an op-ed piece on the future of the music industry. Swift said that while others believe that the music industry is slowly dying out, she does not agree.  She says that although the industry is changing, fans are still willing to support music they love.

3. “To me emotion is such an important part of my life, and now I guess my job. People wouldn’t listen to my songs if they weren’t heartbroken, or deeply affected and hurt, and jilted, and sad, and bitter, and all those wonderful things that I write songs about.”

In an interview about her role in the 2014 film, The Giver, Swift discusses the role emotions play in not only her life but the lives of her fans and people everywhere.  However, Swift’s character in the film, Rosemary, seems to be devoid of emotion

2. “Silence speaks so much louder than screaming tantrums. Never give anyone an excuse to say that you’re crazy.”

Over the years Swift has become known for her love life, which seems to have become a revolving door of celebrity boyfriends.  However, Swift, has this piece of advice for those in relationships on how to deal with arguments with their significant other.

1. “I find it relatively easy to keep my clothes on because I don’t really feel like taking them off. It’s not an urge I have. For me, ‘risky’ is revealing what really happened in my life through music. Risky is writing confessional songs and telling the true story about a person with enough details so everyone knows who that person is. That’s putting myself out there, maybe even more than taking my shirt off.”

While some young artists seem to have trouble keeping their clothes on, in an interview with Glamour Magazine from their March 2014 issue, Swift revealed that for her, song writing is more intimate for her than taking off her clothes.
