The Reviews Are In For The New Lance Armstrong Film, The Armstrong Lie

Oprah Interviews Lance Armstrong

I have to admit, we all felt a bit played by Lance Armstrong. He manipulated sympathy out of people regarding his Cancer, but was actually juicing up when he was winning the Tour De France, which as you all know, is a BIG no-no. Now there is a documentary film that focuses on that scandal, from both the front and behind the scenes. Reviews are pouring in, and it seems the movie does a good job at telling the tale of the biker who fell from grace, but did so willingly. How the movie came to be might surprise you, though.

La Times, specifically, talks about how the film, The Armstrong Lie, began as a very different film. It started out as a film called The Road Back, and was going to focus on Armstrong trying to retain his Tour De France title. It came out, DURING FILMING, that Lance Armstrong had been using performance enhancing drugs each time of the seven times he won. This enraged and hurt documentarian, Alex Gibney SO MUCH, he changed the name and whole purpose of his film. Suddenly, instead of being about Armstrong’s road back, it was about the lie he told the whole world, and how we all fell for it.

Engrossing and compelling are just a few words being tossed around about the Lance Armstrong documentary, The Armstrong Lie. If you get a chance and it comes to your town, you just might want to give it a shot, too. Wait, shot was not the best choice of words to use there.
