‘The Talk’ Star Sara Gilbert Marries Songwriter Linda Perry
Another celebrity couple makes it official! On Sunday, Sara Gilbert, actress and co-host of CBS’s daytime talk show, The Talk, married singer/songwriter Linda Perry. The newlyweds are on honeymoon, so Gilbert, 39, will be absent from hosting the female round table talk show for the next week. All of her co-hosts attended the ceremony and discussed the wedding during Monday’s episode.
“It was at sunset, and overlooking the ocean,” said Talk co-host Aisha Tyler at the start of Monday’s show. “She is off on her honeymoon and returns on Monday,” said Julie Chen. The co-hosts promised viewers more wedding details next week when Gilbert is back to join in on the happy discussion.
Perry, 48, was the lead singer and songwriter of the band 4 Non Blondes, who had the 90’s smash hit “What’s Going On.” Perry has founded two record labels and is an established songwriter and producer for other artists, including Christina Aguilera (for the worldwide hit “Beautiful”), Gwen Stefani, and Adam Lambert.
The ceremony took place almost one year after Gilbert revealed her engagement news during an episode of The Talk last April. “It’s like the most amazing proposal ever,” the former Roseanne star said about Perry’s elaborate picnic proposal. “I’m sitting there listening and I’m kind of daydreaming and I’m thinking like, ‘If I ever proposed to her this would be an amazing way to do it.’ The people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket, walk over and they start playing [The Cure’s] Lovesong,” she explained of her fiancee’s romantic engagement.
The couple have been dating since 2011. Gilbert first came out as lesbian in 2010, when she revealed her longterm relationship with TV producer Alison Adler. Gilbert, who was once a recurring guest star on The Big Bang Theory, and Adler began dating in 2001. The longtime loves split a decade later in August 2011 and share custody of two kids, son Levi, 9, and daughter Sawyer, 6.
Gilbert is also an executive producer for The Talk, which airs weekdays at 2 p.m. ET on CBS.
