Trouble on ‘Jupiter’? – Film Starring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum Pushed to 2015

Just weeks before it was scheduled to hit theaters, Jupiter Ascending, the new science fiction movie starring bankable stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, has been abruptly pushed from its July 18 release date to 2015. The movie is directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski, who are sci-fi legends thanks to directing The Matrix (Lana is also well-known for being a famous transgendered male-to-female). Jupiter Ascending is now set to make its theatrical debut next year, on February 6.

This is the second release date change for the film. In December, Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow moved the movie up one week from July 25. Little has been explained about this second, sudden change. The movie is rumored to have a budget of $150 million and it is believed that more time was needed to make improvements on the film’s multitude of special visual effects.

“With the July release date, they were just not going to make it on time,” Warner Bros.’ domestic distribution chief Dan Fellman told Variety. “A lot of the issue for us was getting it ready for the international release, since the foreign territories need additional time.”

With the movie now being released on Feb. 6, Liam Neeson’s Run All Night (in which he stars as a hitman protecting his family) has now been bumped to that release date. It will be interesting to see if a further chain reaction of release date-changing occurs.

Other movies being released on Feb. 6, 2015? Seventh Son starring Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges and Mortdecai, starring the one and only Johnny Depp.
