10 Celebrities Who Earn Millions from Second Careers

When it comes to celebrities, most people assume that they’re rolling in dough from not having to do much work. But for those who really want to grow their wealth, putting all of their eggs in one basket is simply not a smart business move. What some people fail to realize, is that there are lots of celebrities who actually work ‘second jobs’ in order to really build their empires.  However, unlike most people, these celebrities’ second jobs don’t include folding clothes at the local JcPenny or working customer service at a call center. In fact, some stars are even bringing in millions of dollars from their second jobs alone.  Too bad everyone in the world can’t say the same! Here are 10 celebrities who earn millions from second careers.

Tom Selleck

Tom Selleck has been in the acting business for more than 40 years. Over the course of his career, his acting chops have earned him millions of dollars. However, that isn’t the only line of work that’s been lining Selleck’s pockets.  Aside from acting, Selling has another job that’s earned him a pretty penny: selling avocados.  As you can imagine, Selleck isn’t just selling a basket full of avocados on the side of the road. In fact, he owns a more than 60 acre farm in California where he does the picking and the planting.

Gwen Stefani

Depending on when you grew up, you either remember Stefani best as a member of the group No Doubt or as a solo artist. However, these days, she’s making a name for herself in another industry entirely.  In 2007, she launched a clothing line L.A.M.B (Love Angel Music Baby) which has done very well over the last several years.  In fact, Stefani is close to making $100 million from her clothing line alone.

Jeremy Renner

Actor/producer, Jeremy Renner, has appeared in some pretty big films over the course of his career. However, aside from making a fortune on the big and small screens, Renner has also found time to do another job.  In his spare time, Renner flips houses.  In 2008, Renner and his business house sold a house they flipped for upwards of $4 million.

Akon

During the early 2000s, Akon was on track to be the next big thing in the music industry.  However after releasing three albums, Akon took a break from music in 2008.  While most people thought he disappeared, and possibly even when broke, that wasn’t the case.  In fact, Akon seems to have transitioned into a smart and savvy businessman who has embarked on several ventures over the years. Most notably, Akon owns a diamond mine.  Although the diamond industry has been very controversial over the years, that hasn’t stopped Akon from bringing in the millions.

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake is one of the entertainment industry’s all-around success stories.  From child actor, to the lead singer of a boy band, to a solo artist, to a movie star – there’s nothing this guy can’t do. However, even with a full plate, Timberlake has still found time to invest in business ventures. Timberlake is the co-founder of a fashion brand which makes an estimated $50 million per year, and also owns a restaurant, golf course, record label, and even a portion of the now classic social networking site, MySpace.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow is one of the most recognizable names and faces in Hollywood. Legendary U2 frontman, Bono, is an international superstar who is as famous for his philanthropy as he is for his musical talents. But when he isn’t out singing songs and saving the world, Bono and fellow band mate, The Edge, are successful hoteliers who own The Clarence hotel in Ireland.

Paul Newman

Although Paul Newman passed away in 2008, his legacy continues to live on.  In fact, Newman might be one of the only stars on this list who is legitimately more famous for his second career than he is for his first. Newman, who was one of the most well-known actors of his generation, is also the name and face of the Newman’s Own company and brand which sells everything from lemonade to pet food.  Most notably, Newman’s Own gives all of it’s profits to charity. So while it’s definitely brought in several million dollars, Newman himself never benefit ted from any of it.
