Five Tara Reid Films That Are Actually Worse Than Sharknado

Tara Reid in Hollywood

Tara Reid has been living her life in front of the camera since childhood.  Reid broke on to the entertainment scene and when she was just six year-old after she became a regular guest on the popular 80s game show, Child’s Play.  Although Reid had been working since her younger years, it wasn’t until the late 90s that she finally earned her breakthrough role in the film The Big Lebowski.  In the film, Reid played the role of Bunny Lebowski, the trophy wife of the film’s title character.  The film was widely successful and has since become a cult classic spawning a yearly film festival in Lousville, Kentucky called Lebowski Fest.  The film’s success helped Reid become a recognizable star and also helped push her career to the next level.

Throughout the 2000s, Reid went on to start in several popular films including the American Pie series in which she played Vicky Lathum, the on-screen girlfriend of  Kevin Myers (Thomas Ian Nicholas).  The films became successful thanks to teenagers and young adults everywhere who enjoyed the films’ themes of the excitement and awkwardness.  However, even with a few successful films under her belt, Reid has taken more than her fair share of terrible roles.  In 2003, Reid starred in the strange satire/comedy film which is essentially centered around a tornado full of sharks.  Reid admitted that she thought the film could ruin her career; however she eventually accepted the film for what it was, during an interview she stated: “It is silly, and there’s only a certain amount of barriers you could go into. You can’t take it so seriously when it’s absolutely the sharks flying in the sky. It’s so out there that it’s actually really funny.”  Sharknado has since drawn in massive amounts of viewers, and become a modern day cult classic and has even been used for a sequel.

Luckily for Reid, being a part of Sharknado actually helped her career rather than hurt it; however, Reid hasn’t always been so lucky.  Here is a list of Tara Reid films that are worse than Sharknado.

5.  The Fields

The 2011 film, The Fields, is  psychological thriller that was billed as being “based on true events.”  Throughout the film, a Pennsylvanian family is terrorized by an evil spiritual presence coming from the fields near their home.  The film was rated at just 27% on Rotten Tomatoes, and received mostly negative reviews.  One review of the film stated: “This can’t be correct: Cloris Leachman and Tara Reid topline a period horror-thriller about a young boy who becomes convinced the Manson family has moved into the cornfield in back of his house? And it’s not some mad parody but, rather, an earnest effort, which makes it even more weird. The absolute best part of “The Fields” is simply that, letting the very idea of this cast and this story marinate in the brainpan for a moment before coming to the obvious common-sense conclusion: This cannot possibly work out.”

4. I Woke Up Early The Day I Died

I Woke Up Early The Day I Died was almost as bad as its title.  The 1998 film, which featured Reid in a somewhat small role as a bartender/prom queen, follows a madman as he escapes from a mental hospital and goes on a crime spree.  The film was poorly received by critics and online reviewer James Berardinello even went as far as to say, “Is it possible for a rational human being to enjoy I Woke Up Early the Day I Died? Far be it from me to be the arbiter of taste. However, for those who are so bored or temporarily impaired that they are considering seeing this motion picture, I can recommend three more enjoyable alternatives: counting the number of hairs on the back of your forearm, practicing breaking a cinder block in half with your bare hand, or submitting to a colonoscopy. Those who go to the theater anyway will end up wishing they had never bothered to get up in the first place. ”

3. Vipers

In this made-for-tv movie, Reid stars as Nicky Swift.  After an accident at a lab, a group of venomous snakes escapes and  poses a threat to the general public. One reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes stated: “A typical low budget B movie horror straight to DVD release. So corny and bad it actually becomes more of a comedy.”

2. My Boss’s Daughter

Although the 2003 romantic comedy, My Boss’ Daughter, had a cast of up-coming young stars, the film was still generally unsuccessful.  In the film, Reid played the daughter of Tom Stansfield’s (Ashton Kutcher) boss, and the object of Tom’s affection.  The film has a measly 8% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and has received negative ratings from almost every other source.  One reviewer attempting to find the film’s positive side before ultimately tearing it down, he stated:  “I don’t rate this at the bottom of the barrel because the film does have a few funny moments.  But I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with the slightest inclination to good taste.”

1. Alone in the Dark

Not only is Alone in the Dark one of Tara Reid’s worst films, but it is also considered “one of the worst films ever-made.”  In the film, Reid played Aline Cedrac, an archeologist whose character also appeared in the video game which the film was loosely based on.  Alone in the Dark received overwhelmingly negative reviews for being almost terrible in every category.
