Game of Thrones star Michelle Fairley joins cast of “24” revival
At the end of last season’s Game of Thrones, the (SPOILER!) death of “Queen of the North” matriarch Catelyn Stark (among others) had viewers reeling during the infamous Red Wedding scene. Played with quiet dignity by stellar actress Michelle Fairley, fans of both Mrs. Stark and the actress herself will be happy to know that Fairley has been cast in the 24 revival, 24: Live Another Day.
Fairley is joining the show in a major role, playing a villain named Margo, the British widow of a notorious terrorist. The role was originally filled by another actress, Judy Davis (“The Starter Wife”), who had to drop out of production due to personal reasons.
Fairley played Catelyn Stark for three seasons on the HBO’s smash hit, which she followed with a recurring role last year on USA’s Suits.
Live Another Day returns as a limited series event, set four years after the events of Season 8, and brings Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) this time to London. The series will loosely adhere to the real time concept that it has previously followed; while it will still cover the events of a single day with each episode corresponding to an hour, there will be jumps forward in time between certain episodes. During the time period, Jack will be working to thwart an unthinkable terrorist attack led by Margo’s husband that could forever impact the planet.
Familiar 24 actors returning for this special season include Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver, and William Devane. Newcomers to the show that are joining the cast include Yvonne Strahovski (Dexter, Chuck), Stephen Fry (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug), Benjamin Bratt (Private Practice, Law and Order), and Tate Donovan (Hostages, Damages).
The series returns to FOX with a 2-hour premiere on May 5.
