Julianne Moore Took Role in Hunger Games for Her Kids
For Julianne Moore, the decision to join the first of the last two Hunger Games movies was a simple one. Not only is the franchise a huge hit that will guarantee some good reviews and a big audience for the gorgeous redhead, it’s also something her kids encouraged. The mother of two decided that taking her role in the movie was something that would be important to her kids, who are huge fans of the movies and the book series, so it only made the decision that much easier. After all, what teenager wouldn’t be thrilled if his or her mom was asked to take a part in The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Part I.
“Most of the films I make are not for kids. My son was in line for the midnight show when The Hunger Games first came out. They both loved the books. For them, my being in Mockingjay was fairly meaningful,” said the lovely actress when asked about her decision to take a role so unlike those she normally takes. Additionally, she’s a fan of the message that the books and movies bring to kids, which is that of finding yourself and figuring out what you have to bring to the table for your own family and your own future.
“For a child moving into adolescence, the big question is, ‘Do I have free will? Can I determine my own future?’ At that age, you’re still with your parents. But you’re asking yourself, ‘Who am I?’” she says of kids and their way of looking at the movie. Moore’s children are right at that age when they’re trying to figure out what they want to do with their future and what they want to do with their lives. Her daughter, Liv, is 12 and her son, Caleb, is 16.
