Katherine Heigl Responds to Allegations about Being “Difficult”
It’s been awhile since Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has been in the spotlight. She famously left the show in 2010 and took a long hiatus to reportedly focus on family after adopting two young daughters with her husband, singer Josh Kelley.
But others felt she exited Grey‘s in order to focus on a movie career. After a string of movies, including Knocked Up, The Ugly Truth, and 27 Dresses, Heigl’s career fizzled after she and her momager developed a reputation for being “difficult to work with.” That reputation came via a massive report that published in the Hollywood Reporter in September 2013. Heigl, 35, was never directly questioned about the piece until Sunday, July 13 at the 2014 Summer TCAs.
After a reporter specifically mentioned the claims, Heigl vaguely mentioned her various projects and replied, “I can only say that I certainly don’t see myself as being difficult, I would never intend to be difficult… If I have ever disappointed somebody, it was never intentional.”
Heigl was attending the press presentations because she stars in the new NBC drama State of Affairs. Heigl stars as CIA agent Charlie Tucker, a top advisor to the President, played by renowned actress Alfre Woodard. The “high-octane thriller,” as described on the NBC website, follows Tucker as she presents the President’s daily briefing on security issues facing the country. Heigl’s stagemom-type mother, Nancy Heigl, is credited as an executive producer. The show will air on Monday nights beginning November 17.
In regards to her break from acting and the entertainment industry, Heigl stated, “”I took a couple of years off to be with my family… I needed that time. “I needed to be a mom, and be a wife and be a friend and really revel in that.”
