Katie Holmes to Portray Jackie O. A Second Time
Katie Holmes is back as Jacqueline Kennedy. The gorgeous Dawson’s Creek star portrayed the stylish and iconic former first lady in 2011 for a television miniseries about JFK, and now she’s back to do the same thing in a new miniseries that’s scheduled to debut on Reelz. The new miniseries is titled, “The Kennedys: After Camelot,” and filming is scheduled to begin soon.
The actress did such a stellar role as Jackie O. that the network asked her to reprise the role. This time, we think that she might even do a more amazing job with the role considering she’s no longer in the midst of a failing marriage or the worry that her life is not what she wants.
And if reprising her role as Jacqueline is not enough, the actress was given an even bigger opportunity within the series; the work as the executive producer on one of the four episodes in which she will star. This time the series is more focused on her than her husband. The miniseries is set to film in the spring in an unknown Canadian location, and the series is expected to be scheduled for viewing in 2016.
“Katie elegantly portrayed Jackie Kennedy in the first miniseries and now will continue the role as Jackie grows into the Jackie O that that the world knows best. Katie is brave, committed and perfect for this role. She is a strong, talented woman who understands how special and respected Jackie Kennedy, and then Jackie Onassis, was an as international icon,” said Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of Reelz.
The same producer who worked on the first miniseries with Holmes has also reprised his role and will come back to produce three of the four new episodes of the series. It seems like a match made in heaven given the high ratings the miniseries received on its first go round.
