Kurt Russell Says Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” May Begin in 2015

LA Premiere Of Dimension Film's ''Grindhouse''

Quentin Tarantino almost made a movie in 2014. The filmmaker was ready to make another western after his Oscar winning hit Django Unchained.  But thanks to a script leak and an ensuing lawsuit against Gawker for doing the leaking, Tarantino slowed down to the idea. But at a recent live read of the Hateful Eight script, he announced that he was in the process of redrafting the screenplay, most likely adding in a character named Dick “The Gawker” Nenton. The character is expected to suffer various funny but gory limb-removal procedures.

Now it looks like 2015 will be the year Quentin Tarantino actually does make The Hateful Eight. That’s according to Kurt Russell, who took part in the Hateful Eight live read, and who mentioned the movie among his future projects during an interview with Philadelphia’s Fox 29 station. Netflix’s new documentary about the Portland Mavericks, an infamously wild baseball team which was owned by Russell’s father Bing. When asked about his other projects, Russell replied, “There’s a Tarantino project called Hateful Eight that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of the year.” This comment leaves Tarantino fans hopeful that they will have a flick to look forward to in the upcoming year or two.

This would be the second time Russell and Tarantino have teamed up, as they worked together on 2007’s Death Proof. Russell also was one of the actors who took part in the stage reading of The Hateful Eight earlier this year. Other rumored cast members include Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Walt Goggins, and Zoe Bell.
