‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Release Date Set for December 18, 2015
‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ has an official release date: Dec. 18, 2015. Alan Horn, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, revealed the opening of the latest film in the ever-popular franchise during a press conference this week. The film was originally scheduled to be released earlier that Summer because all Star Wars movies to date have been released in May. Instead they are hoping to make their mark during the holiday movie season,
“We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII,’ where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture”
According to The Huffington Post, there has been some serious tension regarding the opening date of the movie. Various media sources have already revealed the film was set to be released during that Summer, while Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy was reportedly hoping for a 2016 calendar date.
Also scheduled to be released around that time is the film-adaptation of Dan Brown’s ‘Inferno’ with Tom Hanks reprising his role as Professor Robert Langdon. While revealing the ‘Star Wars’ date, Disney also revealed that ‘Tomorrowland’ with George Clooney as the lead role will shift from December 14, 2014 to May 22, 2015.
