Tracy Morgan Upgraded to “Fair Condition” Following Vehicular Crash
Comedian Tracy Morgan’s condition is improving slowly but steadily following the devastating car crash he was in on Saturday, June 7. The 30 Rock and SNL vet was traveling with friends back from a stand-up gig in Dover, Del., when the limo bus they were being chauffeured in was hit by a tractor-trailer. Morgan was airlifted to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., where he has been treated for a broken leg, femur, and nose, and several broken ribs. But things are gratefully looking up for Morgan.
“Happy to pass along that Tracy has been upgraded to fair condition, which is a great improvement,” his rep told Us Weekly of the comic who was originally in critical condition for more than a week following the six-car pileup in Cranbury, New Jersey. “His personality is certainly starting to come back as well,” added the rep.
The accident sadly killed fellow comedian James McNair, a.k.a. Jimmy Mack, and left others seriously injured, including comics Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton and Morgan’s assistant, Jeff Millea. There was good news regarding Millea’s progress too. “Jeff’s family shared that he has been upgraded to fair condition as well,” Morgan’s rep said.
Morgan’s fiancee Megan Wollover remains by his side, passing along the prayers and well wishes the funnyman’s received from family, friends, and fans.
The driver of the Walmart truck that plowed into the limo bus had reportedly been awake for over 24 hours at the time of the accident. The driver, Kevin Roper, pleaded not guilty to charges of vehicular homicide and assault by auto on Wednesday, June 11. He was then released on $50,000 bail.
