Twitter Uses Wendy Williams’ Unfaithful Husband to Prove a Point
Talk show host Wendy Williams is best known for dishing the latest celebrity gossip. While Williams’ no-holds-barred style has given her high ratings and set her apart from other talk show hosts, it has also caused a rift between Williams and many celebrities, including some of her former friends. However, Williams, who never backs down in the face of controversy, has continued to push the envelope on several celebrity topics and has labeled very few things as being off-limits. Unfortunately for “the queen of mean”, her knack for calling negative attention to others has also resulted in some negative attention of her own. In the beginning of the year, Williams and her former friend/reality TV star, Porsha Williams exchanged a few heated comments that forced fans to pick sides. The argument began when Wendy jumped on the air and stated: “Porsha finally moved out of her mother’s house…Yes, that’s what we wanted her to do. But she moved into an extravagant new home that has everyone questioning her financial smarts…What is the matter with you? Oh, I know. You’re trying to prove something by keeping up with the Jonses’? You’re the only one that believes that. And then she tried to keep it a secret from NeNe? Nobody’s impressed, Porsha. And then she’s saying that she’s leasing it to own it. You don’t wanna live all the way out there in the middle of nowhere, Porsha. Nobody’s impressed. We’re all looking like you’re crazy.” While many wondered how she would handle herself against Wendy’s bullying, Porsha quickly decided to take the argument to another level, by tweeting, “Should u stay with ur husband after he cheats? Or should u judge everybody else and not want to be judged @WendyWilliams?” Porsha’s tweet shed light on one of Wendy’s old wounds suggesting that with her track record, Wendy should be the last person to cast the first stone.
In her 2001 autobiography, Wendy’s Got The Heat, Williams revealed that not only did her husband, Kevin Hunter, cheat on her, but that she believes his infidelity strengthened their marriage. Williams explained that shortly after giving birth to their first child in 2001, she learned that her husband had been unfaithful. In a recent interview published by Essence Magazine, Williams stated that while she never thought she would ” stay around for a cheater” she doesn’t regret her decision to make her marriage work. However, while Williams speaks of her husband’s cheating as if it were an isolated incident that occurred more than a decade ago, she was about to be in for a rude awakening.
In March 2014, just two months after Porsha and Wendy’s Twitter exchange, Williams’ marriage was about to be at the center of yet another argument, this time with one of reality TV’s most vicious stars, Evelyn Lozada. 38-year-old Lozada lashed out after Williams referred to Lozada’s newborn son with fiance Carl Crawford as a “cash register.” Although Williams quickly backtracked after her initial comment, saying, “I didn’t mean to make that cash register joke, but you see why it’s easy to be said,” the damage had already been done. Lozada, Basketball Wives star and ex-wife of former NFL player, Chad Ochocino, has never been one to back down from a good fight, and her ability to hit where it hurts is on par with a right hook from undefeated boxer, Floyd Mayweather. Lozada quickly fired off a series of tweets that insinuated that Williams’ husband, Kevin Hunter, was still cheating on Williams had purchased expensive shoes for another woman. Lozada’s tweets stated: “You know @WendyWilliams, I never bother anyone. I even bought you a beautiful bouquet of flowers congratulating your broadway debut…,Since u want me 2 open Dulce n LA. Maybe ur man can come 2 that store & purchase shoes 4 another woman like he did @ my Miami store. Bloop!,” and “Oh…BTW…he purchased the Casadei suede over the knee boots triple platform just in case you wanted to know. #DontComeForMe#INeverBotherU #NowPutThatOnHotTopics.” While many fans felt that such a petty argument between two adult women was unnecessary, others felt that it was about time someone stood up to Wendy Williams and her celebrity bullying.
Although Williams has discussed several other things since her exchange with Lozada, she has yet to directly address the accusations that her husband may still be cheating on her. However, hundreds, if not, thousands of Twitter users have taken the liberty of addressing the topic themselves. Infuriated with Williams’ constant celebrity slander, these users have provided a friendly reminder that the first step to judging anyone is to make sure that you’re perfect yourself. Wendy Williams always has something to say about celebrities’ relationship problems. Although spreading rumors and gossip is what she is paid to do, in the wise words of rapper 50 Cent, “you shouldn’t throw stones if you live in a glass house, and if you got a glass jaw you should watch your mouth!”

While it is usually unfair to judge a person’s relationship choices, it just goes to show that while Wendy Williams is making a living by making people laugh at the expensive of others, there are plenty of people out there who are willing to laugh at her – for free.
