The View Loses Two More Hosts
The good thing about The View is that the “view” is always changing. Once again, the host panel is changing with the official announcement that both Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy are leaving the talk show. Shepherd’s announcement comes after seven years behind the desk. McCarthy’s comes after only one season a co-host on the popular daytime talk show, and while Shepherd gave reason for her departure, McCarthy’s exit strategy is a bit more confusing.
“The number 7 is God’s number of completion & after 7 seasons my time at The View is now complete! So grateful 2 every1 4 their love & support,” Shepherd posted a on her Twitter page this week. A tweet from McCarthy quickly followed, “If Sherri goes…I go too. #sisters,” was all she wrote.
McCarthy went on later to add, “My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year…We will be back,” read the cryptic message.
Shepherd, 47, is an Emmy-award winner who spent 7 seasons sitting at the desk. Prior to being brought on as a full-time co-host in 2007, the comedienne spent a great deal of time sitting in the co-host chair. It came as no surprise to anyone when she announced her permanent place behind the desk. McCarthy began her job as co-host in September 2013. She was brought onto the show after long-time original co-hosts Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck departed earlier in the year.
Following her departure tweet, Shepherd made a statement thanking her longtime bosses for giving her a chance, “I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey.” What lies ahead for Shepherd remains unknown, especially in light of her recent personal, and very publicized, personal troubles with her husband and children.
McCarthy, on the other hand, is in the midst of planning her wedding.
