6. Andre Rison

Flashy NFL wide receiver Andre Rison earned his way to being flat broke. He bought multiple lavish homes and would spend millions on jewelry and cars. Also unfortunate for him? One of his homes was actually burned down by his then-girlfriend, TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez, before her death in 2002. Rison lost track of how much he was spending until he wrote his friend a $20,000 check for a new music studio, only to have the check bounce.  At least there’s a positive side – Rison now gives guest lectures to athletes on how to avoid making the same kind of mistakes he made.
