They’re Making a Mrs. Doubtfire Sequel
I think when it comes to films, there are certain neo-classics you would never think there could be a sequel to. That is not a bad thing, it just says the movie works well as a one time thing. For example, Mrs. Doubtfire. A fun and funny movie, but not a movie you imagined getting a part two years and years down the road. Well guess what? We are getting a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, years and years down the road. The funny thing is, the more I think about it, the more I think it could totally work.
First of all, yes. Robin Williams will be reprising his role. The film is actually even set to have the original director, Chris Columbus, on board again as well. But right now, that is pretty much the gist of what we know. The real question is, what do they intend to do with the character and what direction will they go with the story? I would think this time around it could be him helping one of his children with their children. That would be very meta, and could still allow the comedian to be his rambunctious self.
Truth is, Mrs. Doubtfire was a movie from a simpler time in cinema. Before every film needed a raucous final act and three hundred explosions to keep people interested. Let’s hope the Mrs’ Doubtfire sequels brings us back to that time period. I think we could all use a good laugh right about now.
