Life does not hand out a “Get Out of Jail Free,” card to just anyone. In fact, it probably shouldn’t hand this card to anyone when they commit certain offenses, but it seems that many celebrities that live in their own world of status, wealth and fame have been able to rely on their fame over the years to keep them out of jail. It’s almost as if some celebrities live with the belief that they can simply do what they want and as they please because of who they are and what they do; and what they have in the bank. Yes, there are many celebrities that have spent some time in jail for their behavior, and there are some that were never taken to jail. Some never committed any crimes. Others probably needed to serve some time, but they managed to use their celebrity status to keep them out of jail. Read on to find out which celebrities probably should have gone to jail, but did not.
He’s one of the most prolific rappers of our time, and he’s a straight up thug in many instances according to his own lyrics. However, he was a thug back in 2001 when he got into an altercation with a business rival that resulted in Jay-Z pulling a knife out of his pocket and stabling the man several times. He was set to go on trial for the stabbing, which would have been considered attempted murder, but he paid off the man he stabbed if he promised to tell the police he would either disappear before a trial could begin or he would testify that Jay-Z did not stab him. He could have faced many years in jail, but he did not.
When the famous reality star was pulled over for driving drunk back in 2008, she was ordered to spend one month in jail. When she was taken to jail, her family was upset and very protective of her, and it made its way onto their hit reality series, of course. It turns out, though, that the jail let her go after less than three hours behind bars. They claimed that the jail was overcrowded and that she was just taking up more space. However, Kardashian states that the warden put her into solitary confinement and told her that there were numerous bomb threats being issued to the jail. He accused her of being the reason so many people wanted to bomb the jail and released her so that people would leave the jail alone. Whatever works, right? She was let out and she went home. On that note, she’s been out of trouble ever since, so perhaps those three hours worked enough magic on her that she was able to calm down and straighten up.
Puff Daddy, Puffy, Puff, Sean Combs, P.Diddy, Diddy; whatever his name, he should have spent as many as 15 years in jail after he took out his gun and three people were injured in a nightclub in NYC in 1999. His friend was sentenced to 9 years in jail and then deported to Belize for the crime, but Diddy was cleared of all charges and has not been in trouble for the incident since. Jennifer Lopez was also present when this occurred. The incident was all over the news and it was a huge deal at the time, and no one knows why Diddy was able to walk away from something like this considering he pulled and fired his gun in the middle of a packed club all because he bumped into someone and his drink spilled. Those were the days when rival musicians and gangs were all up in arms (pun intended) about so many things, and it wasn’t uncommon to hear about rappers pulling guns and threatening other rappers, but this was a more serious case of gun violence, yet the accused did no time at all.
In this young man’s case, there might be a good indication that forcing him to pay the fines and then serve time in jail for his behaviors might be a good idea. Teach him young that his actions have serious consequences and the will likely stop what he’s doing to avoid further jail time. However, in 2008 when he was accused of egging his neighbor’s house and causing tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage, he was let go with a fine and restitution. Then he participated in an illegal race in Miami and was arrested with Xanax and marijuana in his system, and he was once again released with just a slap on the wrist and an order to pay a hefty donation. It seems that perhaps being punished and sent to jail would have been more effective. He was very young when all this occurred – and he still is – so chances are good he would have been so terrified without so much life experience and it would have changed his attitude.
We all know that he’s a great actor and has done some amazing things. We also all know that he’s an overgrown man-child with a penchant for temper tantrums and no boundaries. Remember the hateful and obscene voicemail he left his daughter several years ago? Or how about that time he was pulled over for riding his bike against traffic in Manhattan? He was screaming at officers because he felt that they were too young to know who he was, so they required that he go before a judge. When he did, the judge was such a fan that he told Baldwin he’d require no fine, just an apology. When Baldwin told him he was not apologizing to the officers, the judge told him to be a good boy for six months and to have a nice day. He resisted officers, he belittled and yelled at them and then he refused orders from a judge; and he never received even a fine for his poor behavior and blatant disrespect of the law.
